Her Own Path
Yutu had taken home a cat, but she regularly leaves for long periods of time. It is necessary to check if she is definitely safe.

Quest Location
- Yutu: usually found on the docks in Barrow End.
- Patrice: inside the Local Market
- Tulok: at his Farm
- Steppes: Aqueduct behind Tulok's Farm
- Steppes: Between 8:00 and 8:30 Empress can usually be found at the Firebird cuflow nest area.
Quest Overview
- Find the lost cat. Talk to residents if necessary.
- Go to the area of the aqueduct ruins during daylight hours.
- It looks like Empress is safe, she just walks around outside a lot. I should take time and see if she comes back home.
- Wait two days and then talk to Yutu.
- Ask people who live outside the town about Empress.
- Catch Empress using bugnet or use your familiar to negotiate. She roams around the steppes.

Quest Walkthrough
Yutu will send you a letter in the mail expressing his concerns about cat's wanderings. He is worried because she disappears for long periods of time. He asks if you would be willing to look into this, as a fellow cat lover. If you go talk to Yutu, he will tell you he has no idea where to look but he feels that she must be somewhere close to the city. He will also tell you her name is Empress. Next, talk to the residents. Patrice will tell you that she hears all sorts of things at the shop and has heard the cat was seen near the lake in the Steppes. The quest will update, and you will need to go to the Steppes during the day to find Empress.
If you follow the information that the cat was seen near the aqueduct you will trigger a cutscene when you approach it. The aqueduct they are referring to is the one behind Tulok's farm, with water pouring into the pond below, near the small archaeological dig site. Tesha will be there with Empress, and Empress will take off. Tesha will ask you to wait two days before talking to Yutu. She feels that it would be a bad idea to tell him about this spot because he is too protective and would come here himself if he found out that Empress was seen here. She also wistfully muses, wondering if she could be like Empress, and travel and return to the island from time to time, and how her family would react!
You need to wait two days, to see if Empress goes home, before you talk to Yutu. When you talk to him, he will explain that she is their cat and that he is worried! You offer him the perspective that she can take care of herself, and if she couldn't then she would have come home. He seems to understand... but he just wants to see her again. The quest will update and advise you to go talk to people who live outside of town. Tulok will say he knows Empress and has seen her close to the tower ruins near his farm where the wild cuflows reside.
With this information you can now go look for Empress. The quest now updates when you get near the tower. Once you spot the cat, you have two options: either use your bug net to try to capture it or change into the familiar to negotiate.
- Option 1: Bugnet
- If you try to catch Empress with a bugnet she will disappear and your familiar will pop in. If you ask him "Did you see what that rascal did?", he will tell you she permeated through the net, and he wished he could do that. The conversation will conclude with you understanding that she is independent and will go back to Yutu when she feels like it, but not permanently.
- Option 2: Familiar
At this point, even though the quest dialogue does not update, you can return to Yutu and complete the quest. He will ask your advice, and you can explain to him that she will come around, but not to hold onto her forcefully. He will then reward you with seeds, a recipe and a meal!
